Senior Cost Engineer
London, Suffolk or Kent - £45k+
A leading international construction company is looking for senior cost engineers based in London, Suffolk or Kent to sit within their Industry Sector. This business sector involves working on high value, strategically important projects which are high profile within the client's organisation. By the very nature of the size of the projects you will be expected to manage cost engineering activities on site for the client and form part of a team approach to project delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person with experience in the Industry sector, ideally nuclear, power generation, petro-chemical or pharmaceutical, to join us in this field, and in return we will provide the necessary support to develop your career to the next level.
Develop the existing project control systems of a major Industrial Client to incorporate best practice and procedures.
Provide/implement high quality cost control standards and expertise to Project Managers on projects.
Ensure the implementation of the client's project controls procedures on projects in the areas of cost estimating, reporting, change control, cost forecasting and valuation of work in place.
Ensure integration of project of cost control procedures into the project delivery process.
Provide expert advice including daily, weekly or monthly cost status updates.
Production of monthly cost reports, cash flows and expenditure profiles.
Production of ad hoc reports informing the Project Manager of significant cost and time impacts and their effect on progress and budget.
Membership of Association of Cost Engineers or RICS - or qualified by experience.
A good level of experience in the heavy industry sector is essential, as is being conversant in all aspects of cost engineering with an understanding of risk analysis.
Ability to advise clients on project costs and prepare Anticipated Financial Cost reports for client review.
Ability to prepare, monitor and forecast against budgets during design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning phases of a project.
Ability to prepare cost reports, including earned value identifying critical areas, trend analysis and early warnings.
Provide and manage the cost framework, systems and resources to deliver an effective Cost Control (including change control) and reporting service to clients.
Effective client interface skills and experience with the ability to offer both strategic and project advice.
Ability to both accept and delegate responsibility and influence and lead a team.
Knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs.
Flexible to be office or site bases according to the needs of the business and client.
A full driving licence is essential.
