About the role

The postholder will be responsible for leading on Sage’s landlord property compliance, as well as delivering our asset investment strategy and overseeing all property related activities to ensure we achieve our aim to be a first-class provider of affordable homes. The postholder will also lead on ensuring the new homes we acquire from our developers meet our required quality to achieve long term asset performance.

Finally, this role will work closely with colleagues leading our managing agent contracts, to act as an effective client, ensuring our property compliance standards are met and ensuring repairs services are delivered well to maintain and protect Sage’s assets.

Key duties

• Act as the key Accountable Person for all landlord Health and Safety matters, including to ensure Sage is fully compliant with all legislation surrounding landlord Health and Safety
• Hold responsibility for developing and successfully implementing Sage’s Asset Management Strategy
• Provide scrutiny and advice to ensure the sites and homes that Sage are appraising to acquire, meet our asset performance requirements
• Advise on approaches to asset management and investment which will assist to drive Sage’s efficiency and profitability without compromising asset performance or customer safety and customer experience
• Develop and be accountable for Sage’s property Health and Safety Strategy, Management Plan and Framework
• Act as the key point of liaison with safety enforcement agencies and fire authorities on matters of landlord compliance and best practice
• Create the processes, systems and information to give a high level of surety that health and safety compliance and asset management performance is known, understood and being effectively implemented
• Develop and implement an intelligent approach to investment planning that considers all options for the best use of assets in the future
• Ensure policy and procedures are effective, up to date and being correctly implemented and use business assurance techniques to test these regularly
• Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with business continuity and disaster recovery
• Act as part of Sage’s Management Team to lead by example and provide leadership and direction across the business, working closely with colleagues to help Sage thrive

 About you

• Knowledge of the affordable housing sector and in particular, an expert understanding of landlord compliance and the statutory responsibilities of RP's
• Acting efficiently and pro-actively within defined decision-making processes
