Our client is an internationally renowned house builder and are looking to recruit a Buyer to work from their Birmingham office.

 

As Buyer you will report to the Senior Buyer in the Commercial department and be responsible for arranging the supply of materials and services essential for company operations. Your main duties will include ensuring that plant, materials and waste processes are purchased at the most competitive price, delivered on time and meeting the quality standards set by the company.  To achieve this, you’ll develop, build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers, prepare and process requisitions and process orders as well as negotiate prices, be responsible for and react to changes in orders or delivery schedules and ensure accountability in the receiving process.

 

You’ll need to have worked at least at Assistant Buyer level within residential construction and have had responsibility for delivery of procurement benefits including financial savings.  Ideally you’ll have experience of high-rise construction, but this is not essential.  You’ll have proven ability of negotiating at the highest level with suppliers and exposure to a procurement / sales environment.  Good verbal and written communication skills are a must as is a strong organisational ability.  You’ll need advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in MS Word.  A full, clean driving licence is essential.
