Barking Riverside - Community Partnership Lead - salary subject to experience

We think big - we are delivering Europe's biggest brownfield regeneration project in single ownership, housing 29,000 people along 2km of the banks of the River Thames

We think differently - yes, we enable vitally needed houses to be built, but we are committing ourselves to so much more than this. We want this development to be impactful, design-led and something that provokes transformational change that we can all celebrate.

We act differently - our team is a group of passionate, intelligent developers focused on curating a place that remains authentic to the gritty, industrial heritage of the site, as well as the aspirations of the passionate pre-existing community that already give Barking Riverside so much soul.

We are Barking Riverside - and we are looking for a like mind individual to be our Community Engagement Lead. Work in partnership with community members to realise projects, facilities and opportunities that support BRL's Community Partnership Offer Strategy. The Community Partnership Lead will be responsible for effective and improved communication between BRL and the local community, the delivery of the BRL's social impact work stream as well as helping to deliver opportunities and initiatives that strengthen feelings of neighbourhood and promote community leadership.

Main Accountabilities:

  • To be highly visible and engage with local residents and other community stakeholders in order to identify partnership projects and to strengthen the accountability of the business.
  • To collaborate with local social enterprises, VCS groups and community initiatives to develop their offerings and sustainability in order to build social capital in the area. This may involve grant or donation coordination as well as small event organisation.
  • Deliver any formal consultation required as part of the development process, as well as helping to facilitate co-design projects and community design forums that the Place making Team initiates.
  • To ensure all communication channels with residents and other key community stakeholders are kept up to date, and to help introduce innovation that ensures communication becomes more effective.
  • To contribute to strategy development across a number of areas in order to ensure a strong community presence and voice can be incorporated into these emerging documents.
  • To train or to find training opportunities for other members of the business to develop their approach to community work and to ensure the Place Making and Communications team is aware of best practice in regards to their work with the local community.
  • Ensure all place making and social infrastructure projects are delivered in accordance with the BRL Community Partnership Offer Strategy. To work with other external partners to ensure the work they do in our area is also in conformity with the BRL Community Partnership Offer.
  • Work with community researchers to ensure our Social Impact Evaluation work stream is delivered and to lead on the creation of the monitoring and evaluation framework as part of this project.
