General Counsel - Legal - Abu Dhabi

Our client, a Property Developer with exciting and iconic mixed use projects is currently seeking a General Counsel - Legal to join their team in Abu Dhabi.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide legal counsel and subject matter expert advice at executive level for all aspects of real estate development and corporate matters
- Understand the company's rights and obligations under the company shareholder agreement and implement and maintain procedures to facilitate and monitor compliance
- Support in-house senior counsel for design and construction on project controls, project delivery, contract procurement and administration issues
- Provide legal advice on corporate governance and UAE/Abu Dhabi laws and regulations that affect the company and its projects
- Have a working knowledge of all insurance issues that affect the company, deal effectively with insurance brokers and counsel the company on how insurance products can be used as an effective risk management tool
- Provide advice on the legal risk assumed in connection with proposed decisions or actions
- Represent the company in complex business transactions
- Prepare, review and approve all legal documents
- Develop an implement a strategy for achieving business goals from a legal perspective
- Create and maintain the annual legal department budget and business plan

Our client is seeking a candidate who is licensed to practice law in the UAE with over 10 years real estate transactional experience; including acquisitions, leasing and commercial development transactions through servicing clients at large law firms and/or in a general counsel capacity. Candidates must have experience in corporate formation, governance, joint venture and other entity deal structuring experience.
