Andy Wright, Land and Development Director for Stratland Estates, took time out of his busy schedule to answer a few of our questions.

Stratland Estates are an expanding land promotion company, who take a different approach to development by working closely with local communities and stakeholder groups to ensure that the best possible solutions are achieved to meet the local housing needs, while taking into consideration the natural surrounding environment.

1.    Why should a candidate want to work for Stratland Estates?

Stratland Estates are a newly formed land promotion company based in the South of England and we already have some very exciting projects to our name including our Oxlease Meadows & Netley Abbey sites. We have achieved a lot within our opening year and the growth of the company is going to be exciting to be part of over the next five years.

2.    What kind of clients can a candidate expect to work with?

Our client base varies from local land owners, Estate owners through to National house builders. There is quite a variation to the job and company which makes day-to-day life very interesting indeed. No two days are the same and it is this which creates the 'get up and go' for us all.

3.    How has your career progressed whilst you have been with the company?

I joined the Stratland team over a year ago and have since been rewarded with a Directorship for my efforts and contributions to the company. It came as a complete shock at the time and I’m keen to help grow the business and my career even further than we currently have by taking on the right projects and the right people too.

4.    What would you say is the best thing about working for Stratland Estates?

The best thing about being a part of the Stratland team is the culture and work / life balance. As a company we encourage working autonomously and if targets are met then the rewards will be given. Everyone has their own way of working and we’ve all been given the necessary tools and infrastructure to implement our skills and experience to the best of our abilities.

The team of people working here are all motivated and are all wanting to expand the company in the same direction as a joint effort. Being part of this feels quite special and very different from the corporate world I was once used too.

5.    What does Stratland Estates look for in a candidate?

The main attribute we really seek in any candidate we consider is being a strong team player. We are a close knit group of people and recruiting the right candidate is crucial to us being able to work as a collective unit.

We all want to achieve the best results for our own satisfaction, but the company is growing rapidly and we’d also like to focus on collective growth as a family together, maintaining client and project satisfaction being as strong as it currently is.

6.    What does the rest of 2016/17 look like for Stratland Estates?

We’re currently working on some very interesting projects which are due for planning decisions later in the year. Guaranteeing these decisions whilst working with the relevant local authorities to deliver high quality housing schemes will be our main focus.

We are looking to grow our portfolio of sites and we will continue to work closely with various local authorities to deliver more housing developments with the Stratland stamp...watch this space, better still, join us and be part of the vision!
