An ideal opportunity for an Industrial-led Surveyor to become a Development Manager, a newly created position within an expanding property company and to work amongst a long established and dynamic team. 

Your objective is to proactively source industrial land throughout the Midlands and North of England covering strategic greenfield, brownfield and income producing investment with development potential. Significant funding is in place for you to explore key geographical target areas and source sites for future investment. Subsequently, you will oversee the acquisition/control process, securing planning permission, instructing and leading a professional team to design infrastructure and speculative industrial development.  Work with the Investment Team on the letting/occupier process. 

As part of the team, a Development Manager will provide a first class professional support service to Regional Heads in Development and work alongside the investment side of the business.   

Prioritise and share tasks as appropriate to meet day to day business needs.  Report directly to the Regional Head of Strategic Development (North) and provide support elsewhere in the company’s development programme as required. 

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Development Manager role - to include but not limited to the following:
    Work from all regional offices, extensive UK travel required.
    Significant travel required to source opportunities, establish contacts.
    Liaising with staff, consultant teams, landowners and customers.
    Establish geographical target areas and sites/opportunities within those areas.
    Liaise with landowners/agents to secure opportunities
    Make a recommendation to investors to enter into a proposal 
    Establish a consultant team to design a scheme and secure planning permission.
    Working alongside the investment management team to bring forward industrial development, both through the provision of infrastructure and speculative development where appropriate. 
    Active and positive management of both internal and external team.
    Building key internal/external relationships.

Key Skills for Development Manager Experience Required    
    Excellent scheduling and travel logistic skills.
    Problem-solving skills, Initiative and Adaptability.
    Must have experience of working as part of a team. 
    Ability to produce accurate and correctly presented documentation.
    Advanced Development Appraisal preparation and interpretative skills 
    Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    Well-developed communication and reading skills including excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to interpret and manipulate data in a logical manner.
    Reliability and discretion
    Organisation and flexibility are important skills for this role along with the ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines.
