My client one of the leading Town Planning practices in the UK and Ireland are seeking to hire an Associate Director to join their established team, to grow and develop the division further alongside providing mentorship to the junior planners.

The Town Planning division successfully delivers planning applications and permissions for some of the UK's most important strategic development sites and infrastructure projects. Regularly working with the country's other leading organisations in the development of property and infrastructure and they also provide integrated services drawing on other planning, environmental and design services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Complete business development, whilst maintaining strong working relationships with existing clients
  • Being able to generate 50% of your own billable work
  • Representing the company at external meetings as required
  • Preparing fee proposals and providing input into tender submissions
  • Report review of junior staff members
  • Coordinate small/medium & large projects including coordinating project finances, overseeing the production of deliverables in line with the client's expectations and ensuring delivery is on time
  • Line management of Senior Planners
  • Ensure that projects are managed to ensure good profitability
  • Financial control and billing including responding to client queries and credit control queries in event of non-payment
  • Chair Planning Meetings and take a lead role in debates, and ensure their ongoing development through appropriate CPD
  • Organise internal CPD sessions as required
  • Assist the Planning Director where applicable on project management of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Provide input into business plans and attend key planning meetings


Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • An RTPI accredited Honours Degree and/or Diploma or master's Qualification
  • A full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Excellent knowledge of a technical discipline including the current methods, legislation, techniques and guidance
  • Significant experience of delivering consultancy to a range of clients
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to provide robust written deliverables on behalf of the business
  • Competent user of the complete Microsoft office package
  • Knowledge of project management coupled with a solid understanding of financial management
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload (both team and individual)
  • Previous line management experience
