About the role

The Council owns a range of assets, land and property including offices, depots, workshops, business centre and business units, car parks, open space and more. In this varied role, you’ll form part of our Property and Estates team which looks after many of these assets in terms of condition and repair. These assets not only require long term management to ensure they remain in good condition but are important to ensuring continued benefit to our communities and to provide long term income streams. As an Area Building Surveyor, you’ll work within a geographical area and you’ll be responsible for maintenance and building management, both reactive and planned, within a prescribed budget.

About you

You’ll have a HNC or equivalent in a building related subject and ideally you’ll be studying towards membership of RICS. You’ll have practical experience of working in a similar role and be able to demonstrate the ability to identify repairs needed, make technical decisions and ensure repairs and maintenance are delivered on time and within budget to deliver value for money. Good time management skills will be essential as will good IT skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. You’ll also have up to date knowledge of and understanding of Health & Safety legislation, and asbestos and be able to use CAD.

A driving licence is essential however reasonable adjustment may be possible under the provisions of the equality act.
