Job title: Land Managers

Location: Ringwood and Manchester

About us

We are Churchill Retirement PLC, the fastest growing company in the UK retirement house building sector and we’re looking for people like you.

We’re a family-run, privately-owned business and we’re going places. We’re proud of what we do, and the people we work with. We have ambitious growth plans for the future, now employing 500 people and growing all the time.

We pride ourselves on building beautiful, quality, purpose-built one and two bedroom apartments in desirable locations across the UK for those looking for an independent lifestyle in later life. Developments are designed to take away all the hassle and fears that can be experienced by older people and provide security, peace of mind and independence.

We’ve won a host of awards; most recently we have been recognised by The Sunday Times as the 2nd best company to work for and in 2016, became the first ever retirement living specialist to have been named overall ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ by the WhatHouse? Awards.

About the role

We are recruiting for two commercially astute Land Managers to support our business growth, to be based at our Ringwood office (supporting the South West region) and at our Manchester office (supporting the Midlands region).

You will support our Land team to investigate and appraise all possible sites for development throughout the regions, focusing on brownfield sites.

As a Land Manager, you’ll also work closely with our planning, construction and design teams on a day to day basis. The role is fast moving and sociable; you’ll liaise with Local Authorities, Estate Agents and Land Owners on a day to day basis. You’ll be required to make a minimum number of recommendations to purchase land in line with the Regional Land objectives.

Excitingly, you’ll have the opportunity to help the company grow through the acquisition of new sites. You’ll see your efforts rewarded with successful planning applications and customers who love their independent, safe and secure home - knowing you’ve had a part to play in this.

Your duties will include finding new sites for the company to purchase, negotiating the purchase of them and undertaking detailed reviews of settlements. Depending on the location, the role may also require some management of junior members of the team.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 9.00am - 5.30pm and 9.00am – 5.00pm on Friday. Please note that overtime may be required during peak times.

About you

You’ll have previous Land Buying experience, preferably of brownfield sites for either retail or residential use.

You will have the ability to influence decisions using appropriate methods and facts and proven negotiation, communication and organisational skills. You might have experience of managing a small team and supporting them through their career and making senior decisions on behalf of the team.

You will be analytical, a driven individual with a hunger for success, will enjoy meeting targets and overcoming challenges.

It’s essential that you’re a competent driver with a valid UK Drivers Licence as you’ll be spending a large proportion of your time out of the office.

How you’ll be rewarded

  • Competitive salary
  • Company car or cash for car
  • Bonus scheme
  • Annual holiday entitlement - 25 days + Bank Holidays
  • Group Personal Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Private Individual Medical Insurance
  • Health Screening
  • Eye Care Reimbursement Scheme
