Job Details
One of the home counties fast expanding diverse borough councils urgently require a Principal Urban Design Officer.
You will be assigned to a vibrant Urban Design and Conservation Team working on a number of large strategic projects, In this role you will provide design observations for a number of large Urban extensions and garden villages (up to 1800 + units) alongside working closely on the Masterplans. This will entail you deploying your expertise and working closely with the Major Applications team on a range of different developments to ensure the proper design observations have been taken into consideration.
A key component of this post will involve:
- Provide high quality design comments and observations on major and strategic development management applications and masterplans.
- Contribute to the development of Design & Conservation Chapters within the borough's Local Plan.
- Provide detailed pre-application advice to developers and leading architects
- Proactively identify issues, propose improvements as well as provide creative solutions for complex schemes and applications.
Successful candidates will have acquired practical experience within an Urban Design role and have a proven track record working on large strategic sites.
Applicants must also have an academic qualification in any of the following disciplines, Urban Design, Historic Architecture, Town Planning or an affiliated subject.
