Portsmouth has big regeneration plans and to deliver these needs highly motivated property professionals. The Property & Investment services needs to grow its resource to be able to support these ambitious plans.
We are looking for an individual who can show a good combination of technical knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for the role with a desire to develop their skills and those of the more junior colleagues in the department.
The primary purpose of the role is to lead and undertake the authorities' valuation function. You will be required to support and supervise colleagues across the department with undertaking valuations along with having responsibility for producing the authorities' annual valuation certificate.
The Property and Investment Team sits within the Council's Regeneration Directorate and manages and maintains the authority's multi-million pound property portfolio. The team also provides professional general practice property expertise to the authorities' regeneration and capital projects.
The authority has a broad and varied portfolio of property assets across the UK. This includes assets in all the major property sectors, industrial (multi-let and single-let), retail, offices, leisure (hotels and golf courses), agricultural and alternatives (which includes a continental ferry port).
The total asset value is in the region of £1 billion and the commercial assets generate a net income of £15 million per annum.
The authority continues to invest in its UK wide property investment fund, and its commercial development activities. Success in these activities has seen the team take on contracts for investment, development, and management on behalf of the neighbouring authorities, Isle of Wight Council, and Gosport Borough Council.
The team's activities go toe-to-toe with the private sector and the departments outstanding achievements have been recognised by the industry - awarded Corporate Real Estate Team of the Year in the South Coast Property Awards 2017.
If you are a Member or Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors with significant experience in valuation then please apply.
A valid driving licence is essential.
