Role Title: Director of Estates & Support Services

Salary: Up to £130,000

The HMRC Estates Directorate currently provides and operates an estate of over 100 offices nationwide, and we are delivering Europe’s largest office transformation programme in order to provide a flexible and modern estate which meets the future needs of HMRC’s 60,000 staff. The ambitious ‘Building our Future Locations’ programme involves the development of more than 429,000 square metres of new office space, and the transition from our current estate to 13 regional centres, 5 specialist Sites and a London Headquarters, all equipped with the digital infrastructure and facilities needed to compliment a highly skilled and diverse workforce. We are highly focussed on making this a reality, but also recognise the need to make the most of our existing estate, and support the HMRC team through the transition. Our vision is to help people be the best they can be by developing and delivering best in class working environments that create an enduring legacy.

At this exciting time for HMRC, we wish to appoint a Director of Estates & Support Services to lead the Estates directorate of over 600 civil servants, ensuring the provision of a high standard of management across the existing estate and holding responsibility for the delivery of a transformed estate. You will manage and deliver the successful closure of our PFI contracts by 2021, and work with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure a smooth and successful transition with minimal disruption.

To meet this challenging requirement, we require an experienced leader with a demonstrable track record for delivery across vast estates within a transformational context. You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing multidisciplined commercial contracts, complex commercial property contract negotiations, transformational change and will have a breadth of experience across construction and fit out. You will be comfortable leading large teams, instilling a culture of safety and customer-focus, and you will bring strengths in developing positive and proactive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
