We are delighted to have been retained by a very exciting and unique developer who are pioneering self and custom built homes in the UK, as featured on the TV series, Grand Designs!
Based on a large c. 200 acre site just outside of central Oxford, our client is looking for a construction director to fulfil an integral part the senior management team, leading on the successful delivery of their exciting and unique development of over 1,900 new bespoke homes over the next 10 years.
The role will mainly be managing a mixture of self-builds, custom builds and affordable housing builds, whereby health and safety, quality, cost, completion time and customer satisfaction are of the up most importance.
This isn't just building houses, but building communities too - Public realm and place making are of integral importance and this must be given consideration all the way through the developments.
The Individual;
- Due to the varying types of build and the range of live projects of differing size, delivery stages, value and complexity, whilst construction delivery experience is key, it is also useful if the candidate posses wider overall development experience. Not limited to, but including demonstrable skills in pre-construction, tendering, procurement, planning and feasibility.
- Community and stake holder engagement management skills are also vital to this post, as well demonstrating sensitivities to social infrastructure.
- You should have sound knowledge of residential development and fully understand the commerciality behind mixed tenure schemes, and support the sales and marketing of them.
- You should ideally have at least 5 years of experience as a construction director or similar, and ideally have had a mixture of public and private sector experience on high value regeneration schemes, involving significant housing elements in excess of 50 million.
- Having a residential development or/and contractor background would be extremely desirable, and being to work in stressful situations
- This role may also suit a very experienced senior construction manager looking for their next step up, looking for a long term career move.
