Your new company

Established over 50 years ago, and remaining proudly independent, this group of Building Consultants possess a wealth of knowledge, and strong pedigree across a wide range of building sectors, and services.

With retained or long standing clients throughout London, in education, healthcare, local authorities, housing associations & the private sector, the business have maintained an impressive project pipeline over several decades, and are now in the position to add to the natural growth of their organisation through the appointment of a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor.

Your new role

As a senior member of the team, you will be supporting two directors, whilst assisting in the growth, development, and mentoring of junior members of staff.

Your responsibilities and workload will centre around refurbishments, extensions, adaptions and external redecoration projects, and you will need to have strong experience in specification writing, taking projects to tender, contract administration, and project management.

You will also be involved in providing party wall advice, generally working with developers on conversion or extension projects.

Project values will generally range from £200 - 500K however these may be higher, so managing £multi-million projects is a plus.

You will be working with a client base centred in West & South West London, with projects exclusively based within the M25 and generally within Greater London.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to succeed in this role you will need experience working as a senior member of a surveying team.

You will need a BSc or equivalent level degree in Building Surveying or comparable subject.

Ideally you will be a member of the RICS (preferable) or the CIOB.

You will need access to a vehicle.

You will need a strong and up to date understanding of building regulations, JCT contracts, and party wall matters, and be able to run projects independently.

You will have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable in a client facing environment.

You will be self motivated and determined to succeed, as you will be expected to bill a minimum of 2.5 x salary per annum, as the directors look to promote from within, with an open minded view on future equity partners

What you'll get in return

In return for your commitment to the business you will receive a competitive salary in-line with the market average for the area, bench-marked at £55K PA, with some flexibility to this dependent on experience.

You will receive a quarterly team bonus based on performance and fees secured, as the team all share a variety of instructions, they will share the rewards.

You will be auto-enrolled onto the company pension scheme and will also be covered by a private healthcare scheme as well.

You will receive 20 days annual leave entitlement (plus 8 bank holidays) with this increasing on a yearly basis up to 25 days. You will take 3 days leave over Christmas as the office will close for this period.

Business mileage will be covered at 25p per mile, and business expenses will be covered (within reason).

Your probation period will be based over an initial 3 month period, with a review at the end of your third month within the business.

Along with the above benefits package you will gain the opportunity to work on the Central London boarder, avoiding a busy commute into the city whilst meeting clients and visiting sites within some of the more appealing areas of the Capital such as Victoria and the West End.
