Sheffield is a growing ambitious city, which has seen significant investment, development and regeneration in recent years. To build on this continuing change, the Regeneration and Property Services Team is looking to recruit a motivated MRICS Senior Estates Surveyor, with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.

Working with the Land and Property Team Manager, you will act as lead advisor on all estate management matters, maximising the value of our property holdings and working on dynamic corporate projects delivering the Council’s vision for its operational and commercial portfolio.  Leading a small team of property professionals your objective is to deliver a high performing, functional and flexible estate that meets the needs of internal and external customers.  You will also provide a client role to external consultants on the development of the Council’s rural estate holdings strengthening its reputation as a green and sustainable ‘Outdoor City’.

You will have significant professional experience in operational and commercial property management within a complex organisation, dealing with a wide variety of public/private and third sector stakeholders. Experience of working in a political environment; knowledge of current best practice in property management; the ability to resolve challenging property issues; communicate well and collaborate effectively with colleagues across a range of Council services is essential.

You will have well developed negotiation skills in all aspects of property management including new lettings, rent review, lease renewal and termination, dilapidations claims and service charge management. Taking a lead role in developing and taking forward the vision and investment strategy for the Commercial Estate you will carry out a comprehensive analysis of asset management information to review and improve the performance of the portfolio. You will also be experienced in developing maintenance strategies and commissioning services to fulfil statutory compliance requirements.

Importantly you will have a strong customer focus and be able to act as adviser to a range of clients providing property advice on complex and contentious property issues and a proven track record in collaborating with and influencing colleagues across different Service areas to achieve better outcomes.

Ideally a Registered Valuer, you will be competent in carrying out valuations for a variety of purposes including investment, insurance and financial accounting.
