Portfolio Analyst

My client is a provider of purpose-built student accommodation with a significant portfolio throughout the UK, providing high quality living space for almost 30,000 students each year.

They are committed to significant expansion through a mixture of optimization of the existing estate, acquisition, and new build properties.

As a result growth my client requires a Portfolio Analyst to play a central role across the Investment and Asset Management functions, helping to deliver the business plan.

Role

Assess the performance of the portfolio against budget and underwriting, highlighting any points of exception or opportunity;

• Provide financial and business analysis in relation to acquisitions, forward funding/developments and potential disposals;
• Prepare analysis of investment management initiatives for review;
• Work with the Operations & Finance teams to monitor performance of specific initiatives and deliver key performance metrics to the business covering leasing performance, income, expense and returns;
• Work on the assessment and underwriting of new investment opportunities and value add initiatives;
• Support internal and external communication through the production of reports and commentaries;
• Work with the Capital Projects Group to monitor performance and returns against capital budget expenditure;
• Monitor and report on key business, market, industry and competitor data

Person

You'll be educated to degree level in a numerate subject such as Maths, Economics, Finance, with a demonstrable experience in real estate private equity, private equity, investment banking or another financial role. You will possess exceptional Excel and VBA programming language skills as this is critical to success in the position. You'll understand 'business modelling' including an appreciation of key accounting concept, you'll have the ability to run and make changes to existing complex financial models as well as build from scratch new portfolio models. Excellent communication skills are a must as you'll be delivering analysis to senior stakeholders.
