Job purpose

  • To develop, lead and effectively manage the Finance teams and any external contracts with Finance suppliers
  • To lead the development, implementation, monitoring and review of operational strategies and policies, ensuring they are aligned with the organisation's aims and values
  • To participate and contribute effectively to the Executive Management Team over the direction and management of the organisation, ensuring that the Group adheres to all relevant codes and regulatory standards.
  • To provide effective leadership and management
  • To manage the HR and IT services ensuring appropriate corporate provisions are in place.
  • To provide strategic advice and guidance to the Board, Committees and the Executive Management Team, to ensure the Group maintains good governance and financial viability.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To strategically lead the finance function ensuring robust financial and treasury management.
  • To act as the Executive lead champion for risk management, working collaboratively with the Executive Management Team to ensure a robust risk management framework is in place and risks are effectively managed.

IT Services

  • To ensure an appropriate IT infrastructure is in place to support the development and delivery

HR Services

  • To ensure the HR Manager delivers operational and strategic support to the business as required.

General

  • Ensure the assets & liabilities register and contracts register are maintained
  • Carry out other tasks or duties reasonably required by the Chief Executive or the Board
  • Support and promote the Group's wider strategies, policies and procedures

Person Specification

  • A qualified accountant registered with a CCAB recognised body
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Leading a finance function at a senior level
  • Strategy and policy formulation
  • Strategic stakeholder relationships including regulators, lenders and professional advisers
  • Organisational development and change management
  • Evidence of strong commercial performance while delivering social outcomes
  • Experience of managing corporate services functions in previous roles.
  • Detailed understanding of financial management, treasury management, procurement and the budget-setting process
  • Effective risk management and business assurance skills
  • Able to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making
  • Effective people skills with ability to empower, enable, motivate and develop constructive relationships
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a manner that is easy to understand
  • Good understanding of ICT with confident use of standard 'office' applications and finance systems
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Able to support and promote the Group's vision, mission and values
