Corporate Manager - Strategic Property

Full time

Permanent

Ref: BMS00240

We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk; working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

We are now looking for the right person to lead our team in the Strategic Property Department with the proper values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts.

You will lead the development of corporate strategic priorities, including the delivery of new council housing, maximising use and value from our assets and ensuring our estate is well maintained and fit for purpose. Collectively and corporately, working with your peer group, senior managers, teams and individuals including councillors and partners, you will play a key role in integrating and transforming delivery in order to improve outcomes for people and places in Babergh and Mid Suffolk.

You will work with communities and customers to provide sound support, often working on cross-cutting initiatives to fulfil our 'locality' role. In addition, you will support the management team and councillors in developing and managing external and partnership-based relationships, ensuring that the reputation of both councils is continually enhanced.

You will have a Property professional qualification to post graduate level, such as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor. You will be experienced in effective and strong asset management of corporate estates and investment properties. Strong commercial acumen will be essential.

Critically, you will have experience in:

Challenging and negotiating complex legal documents developing property; both residential and commercial, and have a thorough knowledge of Property Law.

You must demonstrate the ability to provide strategic professional advice to maximise property income, capital receipts, manage expenditure budgets and ensure our estate is used to its full potential.

You will be based at our modern, air-conditioned head office in Ipswich, with a range of facilities and excellent travel links. We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development, and will give you all the support you need for your career and wellbeing.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered. Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
