Assistant Director – Business Infrastructure
Surrey County Council
Location: Kingston-upon-Thames
Salary: up to £98,000 per annum

Our Assistant Director - Business Infrastructure is charged with transforming the way Surrey County Council operates through better use of land and property assets, so that we can deliver the great service to residents we’ve set out in our Community Vision for Surrey by 2030.

Reporting to the Director of Land and Property, this role is responsible for leading on all operational support services, including: ownership and execution of the Land and Property risk management framework; being the central holder of property data and data management; procurement, selection and contract management of external advisers; monitoring and reporting of performance; stock condition surveys; being the key financial stakeholder; developing and training of staff, including succession planning; and leading on the structure and governance of projects through a Project Management Office.

The Opportunity

This is a unique point in time for Surrey County Council. You will be joining our new Land and Property team at one of those rare moments when major ambitions are matched with the right conditions and opportunity to realise them.

Our ambition is to ensure our property supports our service delivery and we have to get the strongest foundations in place first.

This means establishing the best team with the skills, attitude and drive to shape our place strategy and ensure assets are working effectively to support the delivery of important, often life-changing services. It’s also crucial that we explore better use of our assets to generate income that can be used to support ongoing improvement and provide further investment opportunities to help Surrey thrive. We want a team of leaders that can demonstrate a successful record of embedding transformation of property services, that are collaborative and customer-focused and leaders who thrive on the challenge of working at pace to deliver major change and improvements, giving us with the best platform for success.
