Regional Asset Management Surveyor

Up to £55,000 depending on experience – D6

Permanent – London (with extensive global travel)

Reference number 19299.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) works to protect the UK and advance our interests across the globe. Employing over 14,000 people in hundreds of countries, what we do is far-reaching and vitally important to the country’s prosperity. Estate solutions are key to meeting our consular and security objectives, and we need a driven and enthusiastic asset management surveyor to take on one of the public sector’s most diverse and exciting portfolios, spanning grand embassies to temporary accommodation in conflict zones. Work with us to build our standing overseas, take on challenging projects and gain invaluable experience in the process.

This is a varied and demanding role which offers unique opportunities to build on your skills and experience. You’ll lead on delivering our estate solutions, which include purchases and sales of property as well as landlord and tenant work in any city where we have an estates presence. Because the role has an international scope, you will often be abroad in a huge range of environments, so willingness to travel in challenging locations is essential. You will also prepare business cases for estate projects and provide professional estates advice to colleagues overseas. All your work will contribute towards realising our Diplomacy 20/20 agenda, transforming our department and making us more agile, proactive and expert led.

You will already have asset management experience or experience of commercial valuations and negotiating from within the public or private sector. Whatever your career to date, it’s important you have a MRICS or equivalent internationally recognised qualification with post-qualification experience in property and surveying. An excellent communicator, you will easily build long-lasting working relationships and influence complex issues. You should also have an understanding of Microsoft Excel and discounted cash flow techniques.

You must be a British Citizen at the time of your application and passing security clearance is also a condition of your appointment.
