About Us:

At Westminster City Council we believe in creating a City for All. What better place to start than to ensure our housing stock is fit for all our residents?

By joining us as a Senior Building Surveyor, you’ll play a central role in developing and maintaining 5000 buildings, ranging from purpose-built blocks to Grade 2 listed buildings − creating communities that are truly built to last.

The Role:

You’ll lead and manage a professional technical team to ensure the adequate repair and maintenance of our housing stock, ranging from the structure and fabric of buildings to internal and communal areas, and estate grounds.

Working with the property manager, you’ll implement and develop effective systems to inspect, repair and maintain property. Creating cyclical maintenance plans and highlighting future investment needs. You’ll also oversee the administration of the Repairs Term Contract.

Providing a high standard of technical support to the team, you will lead on the diagnosis of building defects, the specification of works and the project management of minor and complex projects.

About You:

You’ll have extensive experience across a wide range of areas: from managing residential repair and maintenance services to running large contracts; from making complex technical decisions to project managing building works.

To lead the team effectively, you will have excellent communication skills. You’ll be able to consult and partner with residents as well as responding to their concerns and complaints, and you’ll be able to manage and develop your team.

Additionally, you’ll need to be able to analyse complex performance data and write concise technical reports.

You’ll also need a degree in Building Surveying or similar technical discipline, plus membership of MRICS, MCIOB or another relevant body.

The Council and its partners are committed to achieving diverse shortlists for all vacancies at Band 4 or above to support our desire to increase the number of staff from underrepresented groups in our workforce. If you are from a black, Asian and minority ethnic background (BAME), we invite you to self-declare this to the hiring manager as part of our positive action commitments.

What We Offer:

Safe, high-quality homes are the bedrock of any community. By ensuring our housing stock is maintained to the highest standard, you will make a fantastic difference to the lives of our residents.

In return, we can offer you friendly colleagues and plenty of training and development opportunities.  You can also look forward to a competitive salary, great pension scheme and an excellent and wide-ranging benefits package, plus outstanding opportunities for career progression.
