The Housing & Regeneration team at WMCA are looking for a recently qualified chartered surveyor, or an individual currently pursuing qualification through the APC, with at least two years of relevant development experience. The individual will be good at building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have a network of professional contacts to draw on to enable delivery of challenging brownfield sites. It will be vitally important for the individual to be able to work rapidly and think laterally in order to unlock development opportunities, which will often involve working collaboratively with the wider team.

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is delivering an extensive programme of investment and activity, including a £350m package announced last year as part of a Housing Deal with Government for WMCA to support the delivery 215,000 homes by 2031.

By joining our Housing and Regeneration Directorate, you will be working on some of the biggest housing and regeneration projects in the country and play an integral role in a delivery-orientated organisation. We are focused on delivering high quality housing, commercial and mixed-use development at pace and scale, and are committed to working collaboratively to achieve inclusive growth for the region.

Against a backdrop of a uniquely challenging and evolving environment, we are looking for the right people to ensure we can meet the demands of delivering an ambitious agenda that aims to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands.

About the role

Supporting our Housing and Regeneration programmes across the region and achieving leading-edge delivery on the ground, you will have strong project management and team working skills and have the opportunity to further develop your commercial expertise by working to unlock sites and schemes across the West Midlands. In addition, the ability to undertake detailed technical due diligence on sites and property the WMCA is considering acquiring or investing in.

This is predominantly a remote working opportunity until a date is agreed for the WMCA workforce to return to our usual place of work at 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham. There may, however, be a requirement for the successful applicant to provide on-site support, should the circumstances arise.
