Job Details

We are working for a  multi family office based in London with offices in Switzerland.

The role is based in the  London office but will interface with the Swiss offices.

We are looking for a qualified Legal Counsel to support the legal aspects of the business. You will give legal advice to management about all relevant issues affecting the Company and our clients. 

The successful candidate will provide legal advice effectively to enhance their client’s position and ensure legal compliance and minimise the probability of exposure.

Responsibilities

·        Give accurate and timely counsel to the Managing Principal and other senior management on a variety of legal topics (contract law, company law,  partnerships, ventures, corporate finance, property law, tax, private client work (trust, probate, investment funds, power of attorneys etc.);

·        Collaborate with management to devise efficient and creative legal strategies for our clients including optimal structuring of assets;

·        Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance;

·        Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations;

·        Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues;

·        Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust;

·        Draft, review and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the Company and our clients full legal rights,

·        Research legal issues and recommend revisions as necessary;

·        Review a variety of documents and provide a summary and/ or advice as and when requested;

·        Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders;

·        Provide clarification on legal language or specifications within the organization;

·        Keep Company and clients files organised and up to date in paper and/ or electronic format;

·        Create precedents; managing and maintaining the library of precedents;

·        Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned;

·        Conduct work with integrity and responsibility; and 

·        Maintain current knowledge of changes in legislation.

Requirements

·        Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a business environment (between 5-10 PQE) 

·        Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures

·        Good understanding of private client work 

·        Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.

·        Ability to develop and deliver presentations including drawing up of schematics 

·        A high degree of professional ethics and integrity

·        Detail-oriented 

·        Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information

·        Outstanding communication skills

·        Superior research skills 

·        Familiar with electronic document management systems 

·        Ability to prioritise 

·        Work well with different personality types 

·        Comfortable handling large workload under time constraints 

·        Prior experience in a family office or law firm with private client exposure or other private client institutions will be considered an advantage
