About the role

The role provides strategic asset management support within the Corporate Property Group, exploring options and opportunities to develop efficiencies, create value through additional income, realising capital receipts and maintaining optimum effectiveness of our operational property. You will work closely with internal clients to strategically plan and manage the portfolio to support service needs; evaluate underutilised assets; and identify and take forward the disposal of surplus assets.  You will also undertake day to day property management seeking to maximise income from the third-party portfolio within operational estate.

The Principal Surveyor role provides asset management support to the Corporation and is directly responsible for:

  • Asset Management support on allocated portfolios.
  • Responsible for all high value and/or complex casework for the allocated portfolios.
  • Property management activities including rent reviews, lease renewals, service charges, wayleave negotiations, acquisitions and disposals including highways disposals.
  • Undertaking residential valuations for the purpose of Right-to-Buy applications.
  • Undertake commercial and residential annual asset valuations using property valuation software where necessary. 
  • Supporting a Senior Principal Surveyor.

About the person

You may be from a public or private sector background with Membership of RICS or equivalent professional experience.

You will have experience of providing corporate advice on the management of operational assets to meet clients’ objectives.  You will be accustomed to challenging the status quo, identifying opportunities for change, and working across teams to deliver innovative property solutions.

You will understand project and asset management processes and governance and you will be familiar with reporting to a senior level and risk mitigation.  The ability to communicate effectively with public committees and boards, both in person and in writing, is essential.
