Wealden has something to offer pretty much everyone, countryside, coastline, towns and villages…our community and our businesses are at the heart of everything we do.

Our new Commercial & Assets Service was created in July 2020 with the aim of delivering new commercial initiatives that provide direct benefits for our community and businesses. We’re looking to recruit to 2 key roles in this service that in addition to having demonstrable experience of property related work, will include responsibility for the delivery of some exciting working streams evolving from our commercial strategy.

For the Assets & FM Manager role, we are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, experience of team management within a property and/or facilities management environment, whilst having experience working within a mixed disciplinary property team. This role will develop and implement our new Asset Management Strategy.

The Strategic Projects Surveyor role, will be working as part of our Strategic Projects team, led by our Strategic Projects Manager. This role will operate at the heart of delivering key projects including Regeneration, Development Initiatives and other commercially focussed initiatives.

These are high profile positions requiring creativity, commitment, self-motivation, resilience and the ability to support and collaborate with managers in other departments and our Senior Leadership Team, to deliver new initiatives, grow our income whilst aligning projects with the community based objectives that form a key part of our commercial strategy.

You will need significant knowledge and wide experience in property based work and ideally have local government experience, although for the right candidate we would be willing to support learning in this area, subject to some knowledge of local government being demonstrated.

We offer an excellent package, including competitive salary, career average salary pension scheme, an employee benefit scheme offering a range of discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, flexitime and discounted leisure centre membership.

Wealden District Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
