Following a restructure and a re-focus of priorities, Melton Borough Council is looking for an ambitious and proactive Senior Building Surveyor to join our newly created Corporate Property Assets team.

Melton Borough Council currently has a portfolio of commercial property comprising of offices, light industrial units, car parks, shops, leisure centres and other assets including an historic livestock market and the beginnings of a Food Enterprise Centre that are both synonymous with Melton’s branding as the Rural Capital of Food.

The Council is looking to further develop the effective estate management of its Corporate Property portfolio. As an experienced Senior Building Surveyor you will possess high levels of experience in managing the repairs and maintenance of commercial property portfolios, as well as specific works projects and contract management, together with contract procurement and contract service reviews.

We are looking for someone who can ensure the commercial property assets are maintained to the highest standards in accordance with all relevant legislation. You will have extensive experience in contract procurement and management, and developed knowledge of CDM and building control regulations.

The post holder will directly manage a small team.  You will be well organised with the ability to lead the team to deliver on specific projects and wider programmes of work across the commercial estate. A sound understanding of the RICS guidance and regulations relating to commercial property will be required; specifically Landlord and Tenant relations and business tenant repair obligations and dilapidations.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with colleagues across the Council to provide expert advice on all corporate property and estate management matters including supporting corporate service charges and facilities management.
