Planning Manager - Central London

GKR London is working exclusively with a highly regarded developer backed by a powerhouse in the UK property investment space. Their plans are to invest and expand throughout the affordable housing sector in the UK and are seeking a highly experienced Town Planner who can and will play an instrumental role in their growth.

In the role as Head of Planning, you will provide the link between the Acquisitions Team, the Legal department, and the Project Delivery Team in relation to planning and compliance. The main objective is to ensure that the company receive a smooth handover of all their high quality, rented and shared ownership homes with minimal risk to the business and their investors from local authorities.

You will work closely with and in support of a wider team across the company and be involved in all aspects of project delivery and travel will be required across London, Midlands and the North of England.

Your duties will include:

  • Closely liaise with internal colleagues across the business, developers and local authorities supporting the delivery of homes.
  • Review planning compliance with developer partners (to include the review of planning documentation such as condition discharges and evidence of payments made under a section 106 agreement) for residential development sites to ensure they are on track to accept new homes into the business.
  • Practical knowledge of the housebuilding sector.
  • A sound working knowledge of the planning system and the related functions the service delivers to support the wider business.
  • Be able to resolve and support issues related to planning.
  • Have good technical knowledge in planning application areas including Environmental Impact assessments and other assessments.
  • Support the documentation required for the various teams to support project sign off’s.
  • Develop a strong relationship with existing internal and external clients.
  • Up to date knowledge of current legislation relating to planning and good practice in the field.
  • Management & maintenance of key documentation and project files using their in-house database systems
  • Provide a high standard of customer service to all internal and external customers.

About you:

  • Have relevant experience in Town Planning (e.g. with a planning consultant, local authority, registered provider or developer).
  • Be able to understand the operation of local planning authorities.
  • Effective project management skills and data/document management.
  • Having experience in both public and private sector would be advantageous.
  • Be able to prioritise effectively and manage a busy workload.
  • Welcomes and is positive about change and improving services.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A high level of organisation skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft office and experience of using databases.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, energetic and with business acumen.
  • Able to plan and manage own workload to achieve deadlines.

Qualifications

A higher education qualification/Degree and extensive relevant experience

Package: £60,000 - £65,000 plus bonuses & extensive benefits
