The John Whitgift Foundation looks to support people of all ages and backgrounds and bring them together to inspire a sense of community in all that they do. For more than 420 years, the Foundation has invested in the local community – ensuring a lasting legacy to educate and care for the people of Croydon, now and for generations to come. As one of the largest bursary providers in the country, The Foundation grant thousands of young people access to an outstanding education at the foundation schools that many could not otherwise afford. They also provide care homes and services, which give older people a true sense of community, comfort, and joy in later life.

For 425 years, The Foundation has used its land and assets set aside by its Founder to generate income in order return to the organisation. The portfolio is diverse and ranges from Grade I listed Almshouses to more modern commercial buildings. The Foundation owns notable assets in and around Croydon including the freehold of the Whitgift Centre. Not only does The Foundation drive income through property, but it also plays a key role in the regeneration and development of the town.

The Foundation is now seeking an established and strategic property expert to oversee a full review of its estate portfolio. Key responsibilities include potential disposal, asset management and development of existing assets; configuration of the in-house estates team; review of the third party asset management provision; implementation of new property management software and the capital project business case process to include school masterplan projects. The appointed will be responsible for developing and writing the Estates Strategy in line with the wider aims of the organisation over the course of a 6-month period. The Strategy will ensure that the portfolio is operating at its most efficient whilst creating maximum return the Foundation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of providing strategic advice across an aligned estate portfolio (commercial and or residential property), of a similar size and scale and will be able to show the ability to optimise operations and add value to the service.  Experience of operating at Board level and creating and presenting business cases in essential.
