Our client is a For Profit Registered Provider of Affordable Housing, specialising in shared ownership, under the governance of the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). Due to recent expansion they are looking for an experienced Head of Development & Partnerships to take the company to the next level. As a member of the Executive Team, you will contribute to the strategic management of the organisation, with a clear focus on the future of the business. The Head of D&P will provide strategic advice, leadership, and direction for the board of directors, to enable the organisation to maintain and expand its portfolio, which continues to meet customer needs and aspirations. You will enable the organisation to deliver an agreed growth plan, providing exceptional value for money and positioning the organisation well as the aspirational Registered Provider of affordable housing that it is becoming. Our client wishes to see its shared owners feel that they have achieved something when they walk in to their well spec’d and high quality affordable shared ownership home.
 
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
 
  • As a member of the Executive team, contribute to the development of organisational strategy and plans, working closely with and managing the Development Director on their acquisitions
  • Ensure that all potential schemes are robustly appraised and valued and once approved are delivered to time, budget and quality standards.
  • Lead on the management of all resources, ensuring rigorous scheme appraisals and working together with the CEO and Finance Director on cost management, monitoring all budgets, maximising income, effectively procuring and developing/implementing strategies to improve value for money.
  • Keep up to date on statutory, political, regulatory, and economic trends in the broader environment, best practice in the sector and competitor activity and interpret this information to Board of Directors to inform strategic plans.
  • To consider the acquisition of sufficient land to meet the organisation’s target.
  • Ensure that all services within the directorate fully comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, and organisational policies and procedures, including health and safety; equality and diversity; and procurement, working closely with the team.
  • To establish close relationships with external partners, housing associations, local authorities, government agencies, developers, investors, landowners, and other stakeholders by being a representative of the organisation and promoting and building the organisation’s reputation.
  • Operate as developer to the management of change, integration and improvement through the development and implementation of corporate strategies and plans across the organisation, leading and working with colleagues to deliver seamless and consistent services for customers.
  • Provide guidance and information to the Board of Directors, to enable effective decision making.
  • Lead on the development of strategic growth to meet the organisations mission and growth ambitions.
  • Lead on ensuring awareness of risk management and mitigation, particularly with new development opportunities and informing.
  • Develop innovative strategies, policies, or products to either respond to emerging issues or challenges.
 
The successful candidate will have the following requirements:
 
  • Previous experience delivering results, growth and continuous improvement in order to deliver affordable and sustainable housing products.
  • Knowledge of the statutory and regulatory rules that underpin the delivery and development of new housing in the public sector.
  • Understanding of commercial practices relevant to delivering new housing.
  • Ability to identify and see the potential of innovations to further deliver agreed targets and goals, and lead on, creating an environment where innovation is considered positive.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to advise the Board on the risks and potential advantages of arising opportunities.
  • A proven track record of working effectively in partnership with board members, executives, colleagues, residents, customers and external stakeholders, particularly developers, house builders, and housing investors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Shared vision and values of the organisation.
  • A team player with the ability to create and lead a company culture based on our mission and values.
