About

The Parks Trust is a self-funding charity that owns and manages much of the greenspace in Milton Keynes -  approximately 6,000 acres of parks, lakes, woodlands and roadside landscapes. 

Parks Trust has a diverse commercial property portfolio valued at c £128m in Milton Keynes and throughout the UK. The property portfolio plus a financial investment portfolio provides the bulk of their income. Further income is generated from their day-to-day operations such as farming, forestry, leisure and events.

The Parks Trust has an annual turnover of c £10m: around 75 permanent staff, 100 casual staff and 200 volunteers.


The Role

The Head of Property is a key member of the Management team responsible for delivering the Trust’s long-term vision and strategy, short-term business plan and annual budget. 

The Head of Property is the strategic lead for The Parks Trust’s property portfolio and leads the Property and Facilities Management team to help secure the long-term financial viability of the Trust. 

This is a dynamic and varied role; specific responsibilities include:-

  • To be responsible for the commercial property investment strategy including the acquisition and disposal of properties.
  • To seek out commercial opportunities for further investment.
  • To identify and implement property asset management initiatives including development, re-development and refurbishment.
  • To lead the inhouse property and facilities management team comprising three surveyors and one trainee.
  • To oversee the active management of the property portfolio and to deliver exceptional levels of service.to 250 tenants.
  • To provide guidance and support to colleagues on a wide range of aspects in relation to property occupation and ownership.

The Ideal Candidate


The ideal candidate should have the following attributes:-

  • Qualified Member of the RICS (MRICS or FRICS).
  • Proven client-side experience managing people, teams and projects in the private and public or voluntary sector.
  • Extensive experience identifying and implementing property investment and asset management strategies, and managing development projects to create capital and income growth.
  • Experience overseeing and understanding of pro-active estates management in relation to a diverse property portfolio.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of leadership and have excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong business acumen, be self motivated and have drive and ambition.
