A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products and its associated businesses handle over 4 million tonnes of roundwood, chips, shavings, sawdust, bark, green waste and other timber co-products each year, collected from forestry sites, sawmills and other wood processing industries throughout the UK and Europe. A.W. Jenkinson’s services link forestry, sawmilling, wood processing, building and demolition sectors with the demands of pulp, paper and panel manufacture, energy generation, agriculture, horticulture and amenity markets.

A.W. Jenkinson’s landholding comprises more than 35 commercial facilities throughout the UK together with agricultural property currently of around 2,000 acres mostly within the Eden Valley.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the management of A.W. Jenkinson’s property portfolio, specifically:

  • Managing leases, rent reviews and utilities  for over 35 commercial facilities throughout the UK;
  • Dealing with planning and building control applications and appeals;
  • Identifying and negotiating purchase of additional sites; opportunities for development, project management, office builds;
  • Valuing commercial property and rural land;
  • Maintaining a sound knowledge of all technical aspects covering the
    acquisition and development of land and associated legal agreements;
  • BPS Applications;
  • Support the Group’s Health, Safety and Environmental
    policies and procedures.

The position will suit an energetic individual keen to take on a wide range of responsibilities and will require regular travel throughout the UK.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • Degree in Estate Management, Land Management, or related RICS accredited subject
  • Fully qualified Chartered Surveyor

Experience

  • Ideally, 5 years post qualification experience in assisting in relevant estate management activities.
  • Experience in working to agreed targets in a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of the law relating to property, land, buildings, and estate management.

Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Competent negotiator, with excellent communication skills.
  • Well-developed analytical, oral and presentation/communication skills
  • Effective team working and networking skills and the ability to work independently using own initiative.
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload.
  • A professional approach capable of representing the businesses at all levels
  • Proficient IT skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
