We are looking to recruit an Environmental Planner to join a leading firm of land and environmental experts serving the Utility and Infrastructure sectors across the UK.

So, what is this Environmental Planner role about?

This is a great opportunity for a Planner or Senior Planner who is working towards or has achieved MRTPI to bolster the existing planning expertise in this busy and exciting part of the business. You'll shape and assess the case for development projects, including preparing site appraisals, planning strategies, planning applications, development plan representations and planning appeals. You'll provide advice and guidance on planning and land use to a variety of clients.

What will I be doing as an Environmental Planner?

  • You'll provide planning advice at design and feasibility stage capital projects for telecoms, water and power clients.
  • You'll be working closely with the surveying, geomatics and environmental teams to deliver a comprehensive advice service.
  • You'll review estate-wide planning opportunities and provide strategic advice on a wide variety of property types promoting land for development, as well as preparing and submitting pre-application checks, planning applications and appeals.
  • In addition, you'll be advising clients on permitted development rights for key infrastructure projects and linear schemes progressing planning applications as required.
  • Project work will vary from high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK to built development proposals for a variety of residential, office and mixed-use schemes and battery storage and telecoms masts.

You will be perfect for the role if you...

  • Have a passion for planning with a commitment to working in the planning and property development field.
  • You may be currently be working for a consultancy or local government, but you'll be confident with clients and have strong project management skills.
  • You'll have a relevant planning degree and have achieved or be working towards chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
  • You'll have good analytical and presentation skills, along with great written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ideally, you'll be able to write and prepare fee proposals for the work you undertake and advise others when inputting into larger multidisciplinary projects.
  • You'll be commercial and understand client needs and requirements when undertaking negotiations with stakeholders.
