The Property Manager is an important and crucial role at the Diocese, as you will lead on all aspects of the maintenance and renovation of the housing property portfolio owned by the Diocese of Canterbury.

Reporting to the Property Director, you will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our portfolio, researching and procuring contractors as needed to maintain, repair, or improve properties.

As Property Manager, you will also manage the maintenance team to ensure best results on a limited budget, and take responsibility for inspecting, specifying and coordinating any repairs and improvements, ensuring that all properties comply with statutory regulations. 

You will also build good relationships with Clergy households and tenants to coordinate house moves and resolve any issues and requests from occupiers, whilst maintaining effective records of occupiers and vacant properties.

You should have experience with residential properties and a broad knowledge of estate management practices, along with an understanding of all statutory requirements in relation to residential property management.

Ideally a RICS Qualified Building Surveyor with a demonstrable track record in site supervision and project management, you will be competent in all key areas and have excellent capabilities concerning preparation of specification documentation.

Team management experience and technical drawing CAD abilities would be desirable.

You will be based within the Property Team in Canterbury, but the role will involve significant off-site work so the ability to travel and work flexibly is a necessity.

The Diocese of Canterbury has a housing stock portfolio of approximately 180 properties located throughout South and East Kent. This housing stock comprises a diverse range of properties of varying ages, size and value. The majority of these are designated as homes to house our clergy. The remaining housing stock is rented on the open market. All elements of the Diocese’s property portfolio are regularly reviewed and properties are bought and sold on the open market in order to meet the housing needs of the diocese and its parishes.
