Job Details

Our client is an established property management company operating in Northwest, Yorkshire and Midlands region that focuses on delivering an exceptional experience to residents living in quality, yet affordable homes. Currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, service charge financial management, tax compliance and the development of internal control policies and procedures. The successful candidate will report direct to the Finance Director and will manage a team of 4.

Key responsibilities for the new Appointee will include: 

  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Finalising, analysing and publishing timely performance monthly financial statements
  • Controlling positional metrics including arrears and accruals and preparation of detailed cashflow forecasts
  • Preparing statutory accounts and coordinating with external accountants/auditors
  • Overseeing month-end and year-end close process
  • Coordinating tax compliance with external tax accountants
  • Preparation of VAT returns to submission and liaising with HMRC as required
  • Overseeing revenue recognition processes
  • Review of payment runs and robust oversight of transactions
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Overseeing service charge budget preparation and billing to leaseholders
  • Liaising with external accountants around service charge accounts preparation
  • Financial onboarding of new assets with a focus on opening balances
  • Additional duties as would be expected of a controller as necessary

The Successful Candidate will be: 

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Audit experience which will include relevant knowledge of applicable taxes including VAT and Corporation Tax as well as financial reporting
  • People management experience; driving team performance and encouraging their learning and development
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen awareness of control processes
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience in regularly engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a start-up entrepreneurial environment with a hands-on team player approach
