About the role
The Graduate Surveyor post within the Assets and Regeneration Team is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team managing a varied commercial property portfolio. The position would suit a hardworking, highly motivated, proactive individual.
Working with the Principal Estates Surveyor you will be required to advise on all aspects of property and asset management for example arranging lettings, conducting rent reviews, lease renewals, end of term dilapidations and the management of service charge accounts. The work covers a range of commercial premises and land, such as business centres, offices, industrial units, open land, leisure resources. There will also be opportunities to work on exciting redevelopment projects.
There will also be opportunities to work on redevelopment projects, working with the Building and Projects Team, as well as with the facilities Team to deliver an efficiently managed estate.
The post holder will be required to build and maintain business relationships with the team, other Council services, Councillors, tenants, and contractors/suppliers.

About you
You will have a degree in surveying and a desire to or be undertaking your APC.
The Successful candidate will have excellent communication and numeracy skills together with the ability to working effectively with others within the organisation, private and public sector partners.
You will have knowledge of property law, RICS code, financial budgeting, and landlord & tenant practice procedure, together with awareness of regulatory & statutory framework applicable to property.
Access to a suitable vehicle for business use and holding a current driving licence are also key to this role.
Skills and experience needed:
- Experience of commercial property management and GIS systems would be advantageous
- Degree in commercial property or equivalent qualification essential
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 essential and ideally Microsoft Teams and SharePoint systems
- High standard in daily office work, accurate record keeping, data entry and a good attention to detail
- Good general IT skills with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes
- Excellent Customer Service skills, ideally experience within Local government environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- A team player and able to work independently using your initiative
- Goodtime management and the ability to work to deadlines
- Experience of working within a local authority is desirable
