Rents & Service Charge Analyst and Accountant
My client is a renowned name in the world of international property investment with a significant residential portfolio across the UK. They are looking for an experienced Rents & Service Charge Analyst/Accountant to join their incredibly busy finance team.
You will be responsible for setting service charges for new homes handing over from developers, including analysing any management company charges and identifying any additional services which need to be provided the company and estimating their cost. You will also be responsible for producing accurate service charge budgets.
Using your knowledge and understanding of legislation, regulation and best practice to ensure rents and service charges are compliant and providing advice and assistant to the team across the business.
Key duties include:
- Responsible for maximising service charge income through estimating all service charges based on actual costs where possible for all tenure types (i.e. tenants, leaseholders, shared owners and freeholders) with reference to financial budgets, current legislation and agreements.
- Preparing service charge budgets for multiple businesses within the portfolio of companies
- Responsible for advising on and preparing draft service charge budgets for potential future bid to assess feasibility.
- Responsible for reconciling actual service charge costs against estimated service charge costs, to produce year end accounts.
- Maintaining and updating systems and/or spreadsheets.
- Ensuring rents are set compliantly with legislation, regulatory requirements and our policy for shared ownership leases and rented tenancies.
- Preparing for audits
About you/ Experience & Skills Required:
- Ideally you will have 2 years’ experience in Service Charge Accounting within the property sector (public or private)
- Knowledge of the regulatory and legal requirements and an expert understanding of service charge legislation and practice.
- Experience participating in rent reviews.
- Have a good working knowledge of finance systems
- Strong analytical mindset
- Ability to find and solve data issues between different work flows
- Preparing year end accounts in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of housing management systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and have the ability to work across different systems
- Organised and efficient worker.
- Ability to work independently, whilst being comfortable asking for help or guidance when needed.
- You are self-driven, accountable and embrace change and opportunity.
- Knowledge of Xero, Blox, SAP advantageous
Salary:
£40,000 + an annual discretionary bonus and other benefits.
